My Top 5 Favorite Apps

Since I got my Vizio tablet, I have been using some apps that have really helped my productivity. They have helped me especially in school, but even when school is out, they are awesome. Here are my top 5 favorite apps:

Evernote

Evernote is an amazing app that lets you record and store an archive of notes. I use this app to take notes during class, keep track of events, draft blog posts, etc. I even want to start incorporating it by taking all of the sermon notes in it. That way, I can have it all on my tablet. No more paper! I highly recommend this app. To learn more about the uses of Evernote, check out a post here.

Dropbox

Dropbox is a clever app that allows you to synchronize files all in one place. You can have the app (or folder) on any computer, cell phone, or tablet, and it will all synch up to the same account. It is very useful when you are away from your computer, and you need to send or store a file. A must have app!

Grade Tracker Plus

This app is awesome! You can instantly track your grades/GPA for all of your classes. You can have multiple semesters and classes all neatly organized. Right now, it is in beta mode, so you can get it for free…but not for long! Make sure you download it before it costs money!

Google Sky

Google Sky is a really neat app that lets you view the stars and constellations exactly where they are in the sky. You just hold your device and point it where you want to look, and the app will tell you where the stars are located in that direction. It names them and everything. Very cool!

Hanging With Friends

I am a little bit addicted to this game. It is basically online (or app) version of hangman. You can play with random opponents or your friends. If you want to play me, just let me know! I can give you my username!

What are your favorite apps?

      Oh yeah!

  • jonstolpe

I don’t have a tablet or and iPad, but I do have an iPod touch with several apps. I use the WordPress app and the Words with Friends app quite a bit!

    • http://www.bigb94.info Brandon

I love the wordless app! The only reason I did not include it in this post is because I don’t have it on my tablet. For some reason, it is not available yet because vision is still working with wordless to get it all synchronized…

Hanging with Friends is great. I’d gladly challenge you. My username is joelalonde

I also like DropBox and Evernote. DropBox offers a great amount of cloud storage for eBooks and other files. I use Evernote to grab snippets of texts, webpages, and more for later review. Both have been extremely helpful.

As for my favorite app, it would have to be Google Listen. It allows me to subscribe and listen to podcasts with ease. It also transfers my subscriptions between devices. I love it!

    • http://www.bigb94.info Brandon

alright! I will challenge you! And I never thought of using dropbox for ebooks and stuff! That’s a great idea…

I downloaded Michael Hyatt’s new ebook, and I still have yet to read it…

      • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

It is especially helpful for eBooks that come in PDF format.

Just started a game with you.

lolz, I don’t have anything I can use apps on, but maybe one day :D

    • http://www.bigb94.info Brandon

Ah! One day! Haha… I used to be that way… I finally saved up my lawn mowing money to get this tablet for my birthday a few months ago…

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

you bought your tablet with Lawn mowing money? wow.

      • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

Good job on saving and budgeting to get the tablet. That is the way to do it!

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

Yeah, I don’t think I’d ever be able to do that.

          • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

You could do it Sarah. It just takes a bit of discipline. Save $5-10 from any money you make. Before you know it you will have enough to purchase the tablet.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

I only make $10 a week, I get payed every 2 weeks, I guess I could save up some, but right now most all that money beside the $2 for tithe goes to Christmas stuff. after that.. maybe I could.

          • http://www.jmlalonde.com Joe Lalonde

You could. It would just take some time. But before you know it, you’ll have met your goal and have a great feeling of accomplishment!

          • http://bigb94.info Brandon

From 1 lawn, I make roughly $1 per day in the winter. That is the money I used to buy it…so if you can get $1 per day, you can have the tablet in 200 days! It takes work, but you can do it. The only time I ever spend money is for necessities (and that doesn’t include going out to eat when I want…just the necessities.) If you stick with what you really need (for me it is gas, tithe, and school stuff), you can easily save up a significant amount of money.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

Good idea… one problem. Everyone that I could mow lawns for has their lawn done by a professional lawn care person. I actually know his daughters pretty well, and his wife is also my Piano teacher. Although I do get paid by Caleb, $20 every 2 weeks.

          • http://bigb94.info Brandon

Well, that is a great job. Honestly, I wouldn’t expect a teenage girl to have a lawn mowing job! That is $10 a wk you are getting from Caleb. In 20 weeks (or close to 8 months) you can have a tablet!

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

Yes, but after you take away tithe and a few things it goes a bit longer. But, I’m getting $100 to spend on our cruise to the Bahama’s, and I get to keep what I save! if I don’t spend anything, that’s half of the money I need right there! Not to mention and (what is now more then) $65 in my savings account, I don’t know the exact amount right now, I could have a tablet pretty soon :D

even if I was still allowed on FB, I wouldn’t play it xD

          • http://www.facebook.com/kaylieking7 Kaylie King

Why aren’t you allowed on FB D:

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

            I have no idea…

            Haha thats cool :b…parents rule?

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001370255303 Sarah E. Davis

            I think I did something… I’m not sure.

  • http://www.revivallifestyle.com Daniel

I absolutely LOVE evernote. Use it every day as well on mac as on my iPhone. Michael Hyatt actually wrote several blog posts about that app…

    • http://bigb94.info Brandon

Yeah! I linked to his posts in this post. I would rather refer others to him because he a has developed a whole great series on it.

  • http://entreprelife.com Alex Humphrey

I’ve tried to use Evernote, but without a smartphone or tablet I’ve struggled to use it consistently. My wife and I are talking about buying me a smartphone to improve my productivity and I’ll probably try evernote again after that.

As for the other apps: AWESOME! I especially like Google Sky! I may buy an Android phone just to get the app! lol

    • http://bigb94.info Brandon

Before I got the tablet, I used it on the cpu. Now, I use it on both! It is a great tool!

And about the android phone. That might be a good option. But with getting a smart phone, you also have a lot more distractions. That is one reason I still have my LG Cosmos! haha
