Month in Review: May 2012

I just wanted to give an update on things that happened on the blog for the month of May. This past month, the site experienced some growth. New subscribers were added to the list, and there continues to be a strongly growing engagement level on the site.

The comments also increased. I believe that this was related to switching the commenting system to Disqus. I wrote a post on why I switched here. Speaking of comments…it is time to announce the top commenters of the month!

          No luck at all! haha…I think I might run ads myself. That way, I can charge an extremely low price. I might even go down to $.50 per ad, but right now I have them at $1.

            Yeah. Even if it is not a whole lot, I would rather have some form of income to keep the site going instead of nothing…I’m gonna try that and see how it goes. I might even do a “pay your own price” option for one month. That way someone could technically pay $.01 for an ad.

    My month was awesome and blew me away when I looked at the stats for the site. Unique Visitors jumped 33%! That was amazing to me.

       WOW, 33%, that’s great. I pray mine can do the same, but it’s in God’s hands! 

      Loved that post, it was great. It inspired me to go watch “We bought a zoo”, good movie!

        Thanks TC. I was pretty shocked to see that big of a jump. I hope I can continue to grow until I reach a manageable level. 

        If you keep at it and keep creating great content, you’ll be sure to see this type of growth. 

        Glad you enjoyed the movie. I thought it was a terrific movie for those who have big dreams but continually get put down. Shows you your “silly” dreams aren’t always so silly.

      That’s great to hear! If you don’t mind me asking, what are your page views per month? Mine have been around 2,500. This site is still new, so I expect it to climb soon. The other site was slightly more, but I think it was a lot of spam as coming in as well.

    I just started using Google Analytics so I’m not sure yet on my growth, though I am encouraged that a few new people have signed up to follow and my comments are staying strong.
    I also have started a monthly NEWSLETTER and hope to have many sign up for it.

    My top post for this past month was, http://tcavey.blogspot.com/2012/05/whoever-thinks-founding-fathers-werent.html.  It was the kick off for my part in supporting repeating a day of prayer for our nation on 5/17 in honor of our founders doing the same back in 1776.

      I need to get Google Analytics. Right now, I use Jetpack. It is awesome, but I think Google does a little bit more.
      Thanks for sharing the post! I will be sure to check out your newsletter as well. I haven’t been able to get around on a lot of the blogs recently b/c of time….so this newsletter might help!

        I understand time constraints. I’m praying about time management myself right now. Seems I’m spending more time building my platform lately than on getting my manuscript published. I have to trust that God is in control. Besides, all I really want is for Him to get the glory, so I’ll work on whatever He wants…just need Him to reveal the priorities to me.

        So far I’m not a fan of Google Analytics, but I guess it will take some getting used to.
