Month In Review: August 2012

It is now September! Only a few more weeks until the cooler weather starts to arrive. I’m excited for the fall season! It is now time to give a summary of August, and move forward…

The month of August was interesting. All of the summer months have been extremely slow for the blog. I have been trying to figure out what has been going on. In the past day, the traffic has started to increase. I hope it continues!

I hope that the cooler weather will bring cooler followers…that pun was intended! :)

The engagement was steady on the site during August with lots of comments. I am extremely thankful for the followers here who contribute so much to this website! Keep it up!

I have to say that these are the veterans of the top commenters on the site. I love to see them every month contributing!

August brought back a return of visitors and made the month end well.

I think things will pick up as the fall comes. Of course football season may delay some activity…only God knows.
Just continue to be faithful to what God has instructed. You write well, just keep going. Ask yourself this (I know it helped me) would you write any differently if you had 100 followers verses just 2? I wouldn’t and I don’t think you would either.
Be faithful with God has given you and He will provide the increase!

You might be interested in a new blog series over the temptations and problems Christian blogger face. It’s by Barb (my featured blogger for my Sept Newsletter) at http://beyondthesinnersprayer.wordpress.com/

I think this series will really help many people. I’m looking forward to it.

Oh yeah, I’ll tweet about your give away again, but I still have my fingers crossed I win :) I already have a few books picked out- he he.

TC, thanks for pointing out this blog. It looks like a great resource. I just subscribed.

I’m so glad. I know she has inspired me. She was my Featured Blogger in my Sept Newsletter.

TC, i checked out Barb’s site and I too love the new series she’s beginning.

It looks like it will be great for us all!

Did you have a chance to see her interview in my Sept Newsletter?

        • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Yes I did! It was great hearing her take on the issues facing the land. Some of my other greatest take-aways is always your ‘other’ updates, links, tidbits :) . You keep me plugged in on news items and issues that i would have missed.

Thanks for the compliment. I spend a great deal of time staying current and I love sharing that knowledge because I know how precious people’s time is and they don’t always have the time or desire to sift through news stories to find things pertinent them.

I think it’s going to be great. I think it’s a topic so many struggle with. It will be wonderful to hear other peoples testimonies and struggles. So we realize we are not alone in the pressures and challenges we face as Christian bloggers.

August and July were slower for me as well. I think this was partially because of vacation and my missions trip to Guatemala.

My top post was a guest post written by my wife and posted during my missions trip. Her post titled Wondering was about her thoughts on the question “What’s next?” Here’s the link: http://www.jonstolpe.com/2012/08/02/guest-post-wondering-by-leanne-stolpe/

One of my favorite posts was one titled More Than Words. The post was my reflections about being hit over the head of the reminder to love and disciple through my actions and not just my words. Here’s the link: http://www.jonstolpe.com/2012/08/28/more-than-words/

Thanks for sharing the links! I remember reading those two posts. Hopefully, the readers here can check them out if they haven’t already.
It is always nice when the guest posts do so well! When people guest post on my site, they normally do very well!
I hope this anticipated fall season brings new traffic to both of our sites!

        I hope so too!

Haha, I liked the line about cooler weather and cooler followers – too bad it’s not cool yet – I could claim to be one of those followers. My blog was slower in the summer too. I’m guessing people aren’t on their computers as much in the summer. Looking forward to exploring your blog!

Thank you for the linkback Brandon. August was a better month for my blog as well. i think just moving the platforms may have had something to do with the readership plunge..but things are picking up again. Having these ‘dry’ seasons isn’t so bad for us Christians cos I think it makes us re-check our motives for writing and blogging.

    • http://www.brandongilliland.com/ Brandon Gilliland

Very true! Yeah, I switched platforms about 4 months before you did, so I guess mine is still fairly new. We’ve just got to give it some time and let God take control of the rest!
I’m really enjoying some of the posts from your site! I don’t always make my round to comment on many of the blogs, but I am reading all of them.

      • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

I understand Brandon. Reading, commenting, networking and building platform can almost become a fulltime job..:). It’s good to keep that balance, esp when there are other things needing our attention. I appreciate your reading and am glad you are blessed.
