BrandonGilliland.com is Now Using Mailchimp!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have switched to MailChimp for all of my email subscriptions. I have been using other plugins in the past to deliver posts by email to you. I had some time this week to research. I discovered that MailChimp had far more options, and it would be better for this site and its users. This morning, I set up everything, and it should be ready to go!

What does this mean for me?

You might be asking how this is different than the previous email subscription management system? If so, you will love MailChimp even more than the past email subscribers. MailChimp allows for more customization. I can set specific times, design templates for email campaigns, and more! I still have not figured everything out on it, but the stuff that I have found so far is really cool.

With this email management system, I can send important emails other than posts. This will not be very often, but I might need to send something important 1-2 times per year or something.

What about the past subscriptions?

For you previous subscribers, I have added you manually to the list. If you were receiving regular emails from the site in the past few months, no worries…You will not need to do a thing!

If you subscribed by email to feedburner, you will need to unsubscribe when you get the next email.

I’m really excited about switching to MailChimp. I have been wanting to do it for awhile, but I did not have the time to research how to set it all up.

If you have not subscribed by email to the site, you can do so here:

*Make sure to subscribe. MailChimp allows you to set preferences for your own customization…

    Hey Brandon, cool move!

I didn’t know mail chimp can be set up to send blog posts, assumed it’s a newsletter-type only. Though I have seen one blogger use it for blog posts, assumed it needs specific customization for that.

It sounds interesting. I have been hesitant in the past because i really wasn’t ready to start sending newsletters..my hands full at the moment.

So to switch, i’d have to start from scratch? (either manually add people’s emails or have them opt-in afresh)

It can be used for both…MailChimp was really not that hard to set up. I’ve still got to do more customization, but I’m happy with it so far.
Did you receive the post email from it yet? Just wondering how the template worked for everyone???

Awesome! I’m glad to hear that everything went well and that you liked the display. I personally like the feature that displays previous posts on the right side. I’m glad that I made the switch. I have heard only positive things from the readers so far!
If you ever want to set up MailChimp, just let me know. It is pretty simple…

Awesome! I am enjoying using MailChimp for my monthly Newsletter! I haven’t really thought of using it for my email subscriptions. I use the free part of MailChimp- does the email subscriptions come free or is it an upgrade?
It would be great to have everything in one location- though to be honest I have no clue how to currently check who is subscribed by email at the moment, though I know some of my followers are.
Man, this stuff is overwhelming to me!

For email subscriptions, it is totally free up to 2,000 subscribers (like any list). You set it up by selecting RSS campaign. To view subscribers, just click on the list.
      Hope this helps!

Thanks! Guess I just skipped over that part when I was looking at MailChimp, I was excited over the Newsletter!

When I hit 2000 subscribers I will be thrilled to pay!
