In my previous post, I discussed how our words and actions can make a difference in others. It is important for our actions to line up with what we say. If you missed reading this post, you can read it here!
As Christians, we should desire to make a positive impact on others around us. One of the reasons God has us on this earth is to show His love. By doing this, we can make an impact on others. In the post Making A Difference With Your Words and Actions, I stated that if you want to make an impact on others, you have to be authentic in your words and actions. In other words, what you say must line up with your life.
At the end of the post, I asked the question: “Do you find it hard to make a difference?” I received some great responses from several readers.
“I think making a difference comes easily when a person focuses on their purpose, passions, and strengths. I think if we run our own race making a difference starts happening…” -Dan Black
I enjoyed reading these comments because they are so true. In line with what Dan mentioned, when we focus on God’s plan for our lives, we can start to make a difference. It all starts with your willingness to surrender to God. Surrendering to God and having integrity are necessary to making an impact.
“There have been many times where my actions have made a huge difference in a student’s life though I was never able to see it. It’s slow change that happens.
So, my answer would have to be yes and no. It’s easy in all that it takes is showing interested and challenging others. It’s difficult in the fact that I may never see the change or the change taking place but not recognizing it.
Too often we forget that the change takes time instead of the microwaving we’re so used to. Real change may never be seen by the person who planted the seed. ” -Joseph Lalonde
I love what was mentioned in Joseph’s comment! Although you might not be seeing the impact you are making, you can be sure that God is working through you if you are surrendered to Him. We are so used to seeing things instantly, but God does not work that way.
We may never know on this side of eternity how God has used us, but I think that is what makes it awesome!
Making An Impact Takes Time
God does not work on our time; He works on His time. Making an impact on others will take time. As long as you are diligent in serving God, He will use you in an awesome way. Sometimes we can see exactly how God has used us, but there are other times when we will have to wait.
The important thing to recognize is that God works on His timing. We just have to be faithful to follow Him. By living a life of integrity, you can make an impact on others. This is something we all should strive to do.
How are you striving to make an impact?
