I’m Not Home Yet

I’m not home yet…

All I know is I’m not Home yet
This is not where I belong.
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong.

I LOVE this song. It resonates within me.
When I hear it, I can’t help but get into it- even if I’m driving.
I’m sure others get a real laugh, but I don’t care!
This song moves me- This World Is Not My Home!

And Yet…

As I look up at the starry sky, the gentle breeze cooling my skin, and the soft grass between my toes, I can’t help but love the beauty of this world. God did an amazing job designing it. Imagine how much grander heaven will be. As I see my son growing and learning and when I hear him laugh and watch him play, I can’t help but be in awe of God’s craftsmanship. Each unique person is created by God.

Through going to church, worshiping my Savior with fellow believers, and seeing the best in humanity, I can’t help but enjoy this world. I can’t help but think “What an awesome God we serve!” This world is full of beauty.  Full of evidence that God exists!

And Yet…

When I drive by a homeless person, holding a sign, dirt covering their body, my heart aches, and I know this world is not my home.
When I watch the news and hear endless stories of abuse, neglect, hate, and despair, I know this world is not my home.
When I see a frazzled mom yelling at her kids in the grocery store or watch as youth disrespect their elders, I know this world is not my home.
All the pain, all the lies, and all of the horror…I realize this world is not my home.

You can have it…give me Jesus!
Give me heavenly choirs singing praises to my King. Where my hands raise in praise,  my voice sings out and my heart rejoices.
Give me streets of gold and wonders too profound for my human mind to comprehend.
Give me Jesus!

While there is beauty in this world, it is not my home.
It’s a great place to visit- sometimes.
But it is not my home.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

While we can see the awesome reminders that God is the very power that sustains life and it is beautiful, the world is fallen… It is no longer the Garden of Eden… Their is pain and their is suffering…. then death. Each of us have a responsibility while here to make a choice of who we’ll serve for eternity. The God that supplies breath or the lie of the enemy that makes the world want to serve themselves… that is the ugly part…

    • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

       Well said Floyd!
It is my opinion that many avoid making the choice because they don’t want the responsibility. Either the responsibility of serving God or possibly even the responsibility of having to think outside the here and now.
      What do you think?

      • http://theregoi.com/ floyd

I agree 100%. It’s like the old song says, “Not making a choice is still making a choice!” The lost try to think like lawyers and choose to stand on the side lines in hopes of being able to stand on that defense.

They have made a choice to believe a lie. The same type of lies the enemy tells of how if we’re “pretty good people,” so they’ll be alright due to their goodness. I ask them, “What is the goodness based on?” – “So you are the author or designated one to be able to say what’s good enough?” – “So you’re like all the ones before you who put yourself in place of God.” …

“If you are that divine to be able to make that call, then you must be a god… Since you are a god and are able to determine what is good enough, with that type of power you shouldn’t need to worry about life after death.” – “You’re a god after all, you have the power over life and death, right?” -

”If you don’t, you might need to rethink your perspective.”

        You got me going TC!

        • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

I can tell Floyd, keep going!
This world needs us to get passionate about Christ.I think many can overlook Christianity because it doesn’t look much different than other charitable organizations.
We need to spread passion, don’t you think?

          • http://theregoi.com/ floyd

I think we need to spread truth and God will take care of the passion.

          • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

Good advice! We plant and God waters.

            The truth has no agenda.

oh i am so glad that this world is not all there is!

I find that the only way to make sense of life on earth is to remember eternity. It is comforting, to know that what I see now – the pain, hurt, fear, sadness, death – shall come to an end one day. They are not our portion in eternity! Bless God!

       Amen Ngina!
How do you think those who do not have a relationship with Christ handle the ugly parts of life?

      • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Honesty TC, I ask myself the same question all the time :) I don’t know how I’d do life alone, without God. He’s the one who makes the dips bearable.

I think people who do not know Jesus have figured a way to survive, to cope and make do with what they have.

I know many awesome people who are not believers but keep a positive, focused perspective. People have figured a way to apply biblical principles in their lives without necessarily believing in the bible itself. And biblical principles work, regardless.

Nonetheless, the real power in life comes from having a relationship with Jesus.

        • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

I too know many who don’t know Christ and yet live a content life. I can’t help but think how much better their lives would be if they also had Christ.I also wonder if they have simply gotten good at putting on a good show.
My heart goes out to those who do not realize they need Christ. If only they knew there was more than simply surviving to be had!
What do you think is the most effective way to show them love?

          • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

I think the 1 corinthians 13 kind of love always wins. Be patient, kind, not envious or boastful or proud, don’t dishonor others, or be self-seeking, keep record of wrongs……e.t.c

just be a light and witness, not a judge.

          • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

Very good passage to live by!

I’m happy for that as well!

My purpose is eternal TC which is why I want to continue to share it with everyone that I come in contact with. God is renewing my spirit everyday and I am becoming more compassionate. Not saying that I was not before, but my purpose is now forming someone and I am continuing to blossom in Christ. I love the fact that you say this world is beautiful but its not your home.

    • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

Through blogging I have witnessed you grow and mature in Christ.
Isn’t it wonderful how God molds us and changes?
What would you say is the biggest change for you and your family as you have grown closer to God?

      • http://www.lincolnparks.com Lincoln Parks

TC, I would have to say my faith in him when things look bleak. My belief is through the roof where God is concerned, it’s huge and through him nothing can stop his plans for me and thoughts around us.

        • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

That’s really awesome! Keep spreading the passion!
