Good Friday…The Victory is Yours!

Hey everyone! Hope you are in preparation for Easter. Yes, today is “Good Friday”. Today (some years ago) was the day when Jesus took on the penalty of our sin. Instead of just taking this as another day, thank God for what He did many years ago. Without Easter, we would still be praying and confessing our sins to a priest. Our sins would not have been paid for.

I’m reminded of a great verse that shows the freedom we have through Christ:

“Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split…”

-Matthew 27:51

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

-1 Corinthians 15:55-57

Because Jesus died on the cross and rose again to conquer death, we have freedom in Christ! Let’s praise and thank God this Easter for what He did many years ago. God didn’t have to save us, but He did because He loves us.

I believe many forget the fact that Jesus died for all. No past is too dark for God to save. That’s exactly why He sent Jesus to take our place.

A song that has been on my heart recently is called “The Victory”. It shows the freedom we have in Christ through His death and resurrection. The song and the lyrics are below. Just listen to the song and reflect on the lyrics!

On a hill Your blood was spilled
Your brow, Your hands, Your feet
With nails and thorns the veil was torn
To make a way for me, You made a way for me.

Jesus, Savior, my God, my King, my Lord
Jesus, Savior, the victory is Yours.

Wrapped and bound, they laid You down
A perfect sacrifice
But in three days, the stone was rolled away
Forever You’re alive
Forever You’re alive

Jesus, Savior, my God, my King, my Lord
Jesus, Savior, the victory is Yours
The victory is Yours

Death has been beaten
The grave has been conquered
Jesus is risen
Life ever after
